Qualcomm's next top-of-the-line chipset, the Snapdragon 845, will power more than just the next series of high-end handsets. The chip has capabilities built-in to allow it to run mixed reality devices. The Adreno 630 GPU will support wall-collision detection, important if the world you are looking at is not really the world you're standing in. In addition to consuming 30% less power than the Snapdragon 835 chipset, the new component employs Qualcomm's third-generation AI platform that can offer scene and object recognition while on the move.
Just the other day, Qualcomm announced that it is working with NetEase Games to optimize its new chip to work with the developer's Messiah game engine. The latter is used with the game maker's immersive mobile titles. The developer says that working with Qualcomm will allow it to produce "more exceptional games" for players, providing them with premium experiences.
The Snapdragon 845 chipset is Qualcomm's next flagship chipset
Both Qualcomm and Netflix have already been able to use Khronos’ Vulkan graphics to offload some of the heavy duty graphics computations to the CPU. This will lower the demands on the graphics chip, reducing power consumption and overheating.
NetEase used the Snapdragon VR SDK to develop its first VR game designed to work with Qualcomm's Snapdragon technology. The game is called Twilight Pioneers. Games designed for the Snapdragon 845 chipset will launch in 2018.
