Asus confirms it will unveil PadFone late February at MWC
Ah, the Asus PadFone! That unique combination of a phone plugging in a tablet to power it up has an aura of mystery and probably the best weirdly theatrical announcement dating back to the middle of 2011. But after we’ve answered the question whether the tablet with a dockable phone PadFone concept makes sense, comes the question of what exactly is the PadFone and when it’s coming.

At CES, Asus confirmed that the PadFone is indeed ready for its first official appearance at MWC in late February, but an early demo unit also made its way to the showroom floor in Las Vegas. The PadFone at CES was still a prototype, so there’s some bugs that would hopefully be fixed at MWC.

The handset shown is running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and previously it was rumored to come with NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 quad-core chip, but that’s yet to be officially confirmed.

Asus has also previously said that in 2012 it will push hard in the tablet market and the PadFone is definitely a step in that direction. Check out the video demonstration below and let us know your feelings about this unique device - would you get it?
