Best Buy now stocking the Honor 5X as Huawei sells more than 8 million units worldwide
Best Buy is now selling the Huawei-made Honor 5X in the US. The budget-conscious smartphone is now available through both physical locations as well as through the retailer’s web store.

Huawei’s Honor brand has originally launched the smartphone in the US back in February. Up until today, customers could only get the Honor 5X through online retailers such as Amazon and Newegg, or directly from the company’s official web store.

Huawei has just announced that it has sold more than 8 million Honor 5X units worldwide since launching the handset back in late November last year in China. Looking at the specs of the handset, it’s easy to see that the Huawei Honor 5X is an attractive proposition in the ever-crowded sub-$200 segment of the smartphone market.

The Honor 5X comes with hardware that includes an IPS 5.5-inch display running at 1080 by 1920 pixels, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 SoC paired with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable internal storage, a 13MP primary camera, a 5MP shooter on the front, and a 3000mAh battery. That’s quite impressive for a smartphone that costs $199.99 unlocked. Check out our Honor 5X review for more details on why this is probably the best sub-$200 smartphone you can currently get your hands on.

Now that Huawei has a smartphone that’s offered at both online and offline retailers in the US, chances are that the first Huawei flagship to reach US soil isn’t very far off. On the other hand, bear in mind that the Honor 5X was Huawei’s first attempt to penetrate the unlocked smartphone market. As such, the world's third-largest smartphone manufacturer may need more time before it tackles the high-end segment of the US market.
