Google Assistant rolling out now to millions of Android phones (VIDEO)

Google Assistant is an improved version of Google Now that was unveiled at Google I/O 2016. The big difference between it and Google Now is that Assistant is more conversational. For example, let's say you are talking about Babe Ruth. With Google Now, a line of questioning might go like this: "What teams did Babe Ruth play for?," "How many Hone Runs did Babe Ruth hit in his career?" "What positions did Babe Ruth play?" With Google Assistant, you'd say "What teams did Babe Ruth play for? Home many Home Runs did he hit in his career? What positions did he play?" See the difference?

While the feature was originally offered on the Google Pixel,Google Pixel XL and the Allo messaging app, it is now rolling out to all Android handsets running Marshmallow or higher. That means 32% of Android phones will be eligible to receive Google Assistant. That works out to about 500 million Android devices that will be receiving the update. The new version of Google will also be made available to Android Wear 2.0, Google Home and Android TV. The LG G6 is the first non Pixel phone that will come with Google Assistant installed right out of the box

The update won't require any approval from phone manufacturers and carriers. Activating Google Assistant is the same as turning on Google Now; a long press on the home button is all that is required.
