Nokia Lumia 900 for AT&T announced, brings high hopes for Windows Phone's proliferation in the US
The most high-end Nokia Windows Phone was just announced exclusively for AT&T's LTE network at Nokia's event today at the CES 2012 expo, and it is just what we expected, save for the slim part.
The Nokia Lumia 900 sports a 4.3" WVGA AMOLED display with ClearBlack technology, polycarbonate unibody in different colors, 1.4GHz Snapdragon APQ8055 chipset, 16GB of internal memory and 1830mAh battery, good for 7 hours of talk time in 3G mode.
It sports swanky 8MP camera functionality, aided by the Carl Zeiss optics with f2.2/28mm lens, and features a tech called "double wide mode", for extra scene width going into your frame. Video capture, however, is still HD 720p at 30fps. There is thankfully a front-facing cam as well, with the Tango video calling app preloaded.
The phone weighs 5.6 ounces (160g), and is 5 x 2.7 x .45 inches (127.8 x 68.5 x 11.5 mm) in dimensions, the thinnest Lumia so far. The 900 will be available in black and cyan colors initially, although we've seen renders of it in burgundy.
There is also Nokia Drive for free offline navigation with voice guidance worldwide, Nokia Music, as well as the flashy ESPN and Sesame Street apps, although all of the above are available on the other Nokia Windows Phones as well.

There will be some exclusive apps preinstalled on the model upon which Nokia and Microsoft plan to spend the larger part of a $200 million marketing campaign, aimed to popularize Nokia Windows Phones in the US. In this list is a CNN app with iReport capabilities, allowing you to be your own breaking news reporter straight from your smartphone, as well as a partnership agreement with Electronic Arts to bring 20 notable game titles to the Nokia Lumia 900.
The Univision app will be exclusive to Nokia Lumia users in the U.S. and Puerto Rico for 18 months, bringing unique Spanish-language content experiences, like entertainment, sports and soccer coverage, news, cooking and local content.
The phone's pricing and availability on AT&T will be unveiled in the coming weeks, but the pricing scheme was promised to be aggressive, with a lot of implied buzz from tech blogs and other media about the device. Jeff Bradley, senior vice president of devices for AT&T, clarified that they will also be incentivizing partners and carrier reps to popularize the Windows Phone platform, as run on the new Lumia 900 flagship from Nokia.
