Sprint's Samsung Galaxy S III gets KitKat update
The Samsung Galaxy S III has proven to be an extremely popular handset, one that still finds buyers even when it is two generations old. On Friday, Sprint customers toting the former flagship model received an update to Android 4.4. While the update certainly includes bug fixes and improvements to performance and stability, those with the device might even find some of the newer Samsung features found on the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy S5. Heck, you might even come across some new Sprint-related apps as well.

The new software version is L710VPUCND8 and Sprint says that it will be sent out in stages. That means that if you haven't received the update by this morning, don't fret. It will come. Also, to save your precious data allowance, you should be on a Wi-Fi connection when you download and install the update. And, you should have your battery charged to at least 50%.

If you're a Sprint customer with the Samsung Galaxy S III, be on the look out for this OTA update. Or, you can try to coax it out of your device by going to Settings > System Update > Update Samsung Software and Check for Software Updates.
