The ZTE Z986 has been spotted online; includes Android 7.1.1 and a massive 6-inch screen
Throughout 2016 and even so far in 2017, ZTE has proven to know a thing or two about what it takes to create a quality smartphone that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Last year's Axon 7 lineup and ZMAX Pro proved to be some of the best smartphones for their price range, and this year's Consumer Electronics Show is where we were first introduced to the commendable Blade V8 Pro.

ZTE already has some true winners under its belt, but the company is nowhere near to calling it quits. ZTE took the stage at Mobile World Congress 2017 to announce the Blade V8 Mini and V8 Lite, and a new leak that's just surfaced shows off a heap of information for a ZTE-branded phone with the model name Z986. The leak comes by way of a GFXBench performance benchmark test, and the two biggest takeaways from it are the large 6-inch 1920 x 1080 FHD display and presence of Android 7.1.1 Nougat that should be running on the phone from day one.

Powering the ZTE Z986 is an octa-core Snapdragon processor that's clocked at 2.0GHz, Adreno 506 GPU, and 2GB of RAM. The rear camera will feature either a 12 or 13MP sensor, the front-facing shooter will be of a 5MP nature, and 16GB of storage is present out of the box for locally storing all of your files.

There's no word on pricing or availability for the Z986, but judging by the specs that are including with the phone, our guess is that it'll be quite affordable. Most of the spec sheet is fairly underwhelming, but folks looking for a large display and the latest version of Android could find a lot to like with ZTE's latest offering once it's officially announced.
