Twitter's mobile apps get organized conversations, will highlight replies closer to your circle

Twitter announced today that its mobile apps - available for free on iOS and Android - now use the same ranked conversation system as the web version of the microblogging platform.

Back in 2015, Twitter's web app got a useful new feature called conversation ranking, a system that takes into account multiple signals to highlight tweet replies and arrange them in sub-conversations. For a better understanding of the mechanism, here's an excerpt from the Twitter support page that details the conversation ranking feature:

Ranked conversations allow Twitter to present a summary of the replies in a way that's more meaningful for each user's social circle. Best of all, the old chronological display of tweet replies is still available if you need it.

Twitter is currently undergoing a vital period of intense transformation. As rumors of potential buyouts intensify, the main microblogging platform has been updated with a number of new and useful features such as QR code reading, free NFL game streaming, stickers, a new and more efficient block option, as well as a rather useful night mode. It remains to be seen, however, if Twitter's efforts to fight back against declining active user counts will prove to be effective.
