Verizon mistakenly tweets about 4G support for the Samsung Galaxy S II
What appeared to be good news for Verizon customers this morning has turned into a succession of confusing tweets from the carrier's support staff. The first tweet from Verizon came in response to a question about 4G connectivity on the upcoming Samsung Function. That model is expected to be Verizon's version of the hottest smartphone on the planet at the moment, the Samsung Galaxy S II.  The tweet seemed to confirm that Big Red's version of the Galaxy S II would indeed be LTE enabled.

However, joy did not last long in Mudville when a second tweet was sent by Verizon's support staff with a clarification from a different rep that the device that the first tweet was referring to was not the Samsung Galaxy S II, but the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. As we reported, that tablet with its LTE connectivity, is set to launch tomorrow. A third tweet, from a third staff employee, said that Verizon had no info on the Samsung Galaxy S II and that the phone is not on the carrier's web site.

Now, it might seem hard to imagine that Verizon employees can confuse what is currently the hottest smartphone on earth with a tablet about to launch, but it happened. Apparently, the employees of Verizon are only allowed to parrot back information that appears on the company's web site. It might be a moot point anyway, because as we recently told you, the Sprint version of the handset made it through the FCC and was found to have support for WiMax. Still, Verizon customers have a right to feel uneasy. Until we have the definitive word from the carrier, there still is that chance that the Samsung Function won't have 4G support.
